Organizations overview

Every Plainwork account belongs to an organization — what it is, where to find it, and what it changes.

last updated

An organization is the workspace your habits belong to. Every account has one: Plainwork creates a personal workspace the moment you sign up, named after you. If you never invite anybody, it stays a workspace of one and nothing changes.

Finding it

Click your avatar. The menu lists the organizations you belong to, with your role in each and how many people are in them. Selecting one opens it. It's also in Settings → General → Organization.

  • Admins see Organization settings — rename the workspace, invite people, manage roles, set the policy, and read the team library.
  • Team members see the team library only.

What an organization does

  • Groups the people who work together. Invitations, roles, and membership all live at this level.
  • Bounds sharing. A habit you share reaches the organization you shared it into — or just the teammates you name — and nowhere else. See Shared & org-wide habits.
  • Carries admin policy. Admins decide who may share, and can block apps and websites for everyone. See Organization policy.

What it does not do

Joining an organization does not hand anyone your data. Your recordings, your detected patterns and your run history stay on your machine and stay yours. Sharing publishes a habit's steps, not what happened when you ran it.

Joining another organization

If someone invites you, the invitation appears at the top of the home screen once you sign in with the address it was sent to. Accepting adds the new organization — you keep your personal workspace and everything in it.
