Email preferences

Choose which Plainwork emails you receive, and unsubscribe at any time.

last updated

Plainwork sends two kinds of email. Account email — sign-in codes, address verification, security notices — always goes out, because it's how you get into your account. Newsletters are optional and grouped into categories, like Product updates, so you can take one and leave another.

Choosing when you sign up

At the end of onboarding, Plainwork asks once whether you want the optional email. Tick the categories you want and choose Yes, keep me posted, or choose No thanks.

You're only asked once. Saying no doesn't shut the door — you can change it any time in the app. If you had an account before newsletters existed, you're already subscribed to Product updates and won't see the prompt.

Changing it in the app

Open Settings → Preferences and scroll to Email Preferences. Each newsletter has its own switch; changes save as you flip them. This is the same subscription the unsubscribe link in an email edits, so the two always agree.

Unsubscribing

Every newsletter has an Unsubscribe link in its footer.

  1. Open any Plainwork newsletter.
  2. Click Unsubscribe at the bottom.
  3. Confirm on the page that opens.

That takes you off the category the email came from. To pick and choose instead, use Manage email preferences next to it — or Choose which emails I get on the page — and tick only what you want.

Notes:

  • You don't need to be signed in. The link identifies you on its own, so an old email still works.
  • Most inboxes also show their own Unsubscribe button next to the sender name. That works too and takes you off that newsletter straight away, without opening anything.
  • Unsubscribing never affects account email, and there are no marketing messages hidden inside it.
  • Newsletters only go to verified addresses. If you never verified yours, you won't receive any.
